My passport was not stamped when I was departing from toronto pearson airport, is it normal? If yes then how they track who is in and who is out??

Why should the passport be stamped when you leave?
The only time a passport should be stamped is when you are entering a country using a visa.

India also stamps your passport and checks when you leave :-)
Only country I have been in which does that.
Here we go again 
They do track ur visits.... eg. to cross check ur eligibility for EI benefits, citizenship applications, etc, etc... But they dont need to stamp it.
They swipe it or enter into their system, and they can know what they need to know. They dont have to look at the passport for that... 
For the stamp, once an officer told me that they dont even have to stamp a canadian passport when u land. I insisted, and he gave me a wicked laugh and stamped it
That brings up another question from me :
When u enter India based on ur Canadian passport with Indian visa, why the hell they need to see the previous indian passport? Indian embassy in Canada already needs to see ur Indian passport before they issue u a visa for india...thats understandable.
But when u land in India, based on ur canadian passport, why the they need to see ur indian passport?
I was asked to show my indian passport. I said why he needs it? I am entering based on canadian passport and indian visa. He said "Pata tau chalna chahiye aap yaha se kub gaye the?" What the was that? Then he said aap batao kya karna hien... ( see some $$$? ). I said i have a photo-copy of the indian passports. He said usse kya hoga? I said it will give u my passport number and u can find out when i left. He said OK batao. I started looking into my bag, and he said, accha rahne do...u can go...
I was freaking 
Actually, one of my family friends was also harrased the same way. They didnt have a photcopy, so they were asked to wait for like an hour, and finally let go.

No they don't ask to see your Indian passport. I have been to India recently and no body asked me for my Indian passport. Which airport did it happen?
I guess he was just trying to feel if he could scare you into giving some money to get out a of a "sticky" situation. You should have reported the matter to his senior.
