...but I never once saw anyone walking that exaggeratedly.... just miffed me when I saw it.

I wasnt a fan of that either...but she was blind & deaf. Since our ears are also an organ of balance...it may explain the walk
http://www.asha.org/public/hearing/anatomy/

"Balance, or one' s sense of equilibrium, is controlled through the vestibular system that is also contained in the inner ear. The vestibular organs share the temporal bone space with the cochlea. These organs also share the same fluid that is in the cochlea.

Balance and equilibrium help us stay erect when standing, know where we are in relation to gravity, and help us walk, run, and move without falling. The functioning of the vestibular system depends on information from many systems, hearing as well as vision and muscle feedback.
"

Or maybe it was the artists interpretation.

I felt there was a bit of overacting on AB's part in some scenes...some others were really good...like the time towards the end when AB allowed her to kiss him. I found that scene outstanding in terms of AB's acting. Other memorable ones were as he was decending into dementia.
He should have similarly played it down a notch in other parts( some reminded me of AB in 'sharabi')

Rani was better than AB for the most part but the child actress outdid both AB and Rani mukherjee, imho.

I applauded Al Pacino as Col Slade in Scent of a Woman but Rani has outdid that by far .

Manasvi.

No way, IMHO AL Pacino's performance in that movie can't be touched by anyone. His sense of timing, dialogue delivery was superb. Slade was a difficult character to portray and his interpretation of the character was flawless.

Rani outdid Pacino!!!!! that is howlarious... and I'm not saying this to put Bollywood down over Hollywood or anything like that....but c'mon, nobody can tough Pacino's glassy eyed look when he takes the gun to shoot himself in the hotel room or the look he has when he takes on the wheel on the railway tracks..... Rani has a long way to go... she took the challenge in enacting this role and has really done a good job, but anyone who compares her acting skills with Pacino needs to see Scent of a Woman again.....

The snippet about equilibrium is all fine and dandy, so are you saying that SLB (Sanjay L.Bansali) interpreted balance and gravity the way he did at Mehboob Studios (or wherever they shot the movie) and chose to turn a "blind eye" to the real blind man on the street who has to balance on B'Bay's crowded streets (so much for realism).... and God forbid the blind man who in his quest to gravitationally balance himself accidentally falls on a fisherwoman (I hope nobody's mother is a fisherwoman here, I don't want to start any email brawls) and has his head chopped off......with her koytha...
