I realize that the Cdn experience issue still exists. Can anybody input on whether this is still a problem or has it eased ?
I have not heard of Australia or other countries having this special in country experience requirement.
Also, is there anybody who has come from Europe ? European experience is considered value added in the US i know. Is it the same in Canada or there is no premium given at all to European experience ?
Hi,
When I moved here from the UK back in 2002, after just having graduated with BSc in Business and Information Technology, I still found it extremely hard to find a job. I was told the same thing...that I needed Canadian experience. Well how was I supposed to get that when no one would give me a job to begin with, talk about a vicious cycle! I had already had 8 years of work experience in the UK, but apparently that is not good enough for the Canadian job market.
I have since then found full time employment but only after having had to go through a placement agency. I did about 4 months of temping before I finally got a "real" job.
It's VERY fustrating, but those of you who are looking for work, just keep trying, go thru agencies...i think thats the best way to get your foot in the door of a good company. I found http://www.workopolis.com" rel="nofollow">LINK a very useful website - for help with resume building as well as job searching.
Good luck!
