Hi,

One of my friends wants to go to USA for a couple of months. He is a Canadian citizen and wanted to know how he can get Dental and Medical insurance in USA. He currently has a Maritime life Dental/Drug coverage in Canada.

Can he use this coverage in USA?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

If the insurance is for emergency purposes, then travel insurance is pretty cheap.
2 months is not a long time, and it shouldn't cost that much.

Curiously though - if he is going only for 2 months, why does he need *dental* insurance?

Instead of asking you, he should call and ask the insurance company :)

I am sure there are several, but most of them are employer-sponsored.
I am sure residents of US can purchase private dental coverage if there is no employer coverage.

But I don't know if there are any insurance plans for covering dental expenses as part of travel insurance for 2 months.

Your friend should call his insurance company and work it out with them.

There is no point in getting non-essential treatment in the US and then having the claim denied by the insurance company and be left with a huge bill, and dental services are very expensive in the US.

Thanks Pratick.. I just talked to my friend and told him to get all treatments before he leaves and for any further details he can call his Insurance company.
