Based on Jake's Thread "Bush Doing Good", would it be safe to assume that the Right wing is needed and needed at certain periods in a country's history?

I suggest that you incude Sonia Gandhi also in your comparative analysis since she has murdered democracy in Goa and Jharkand...

suggestion noted. However, I am discussing right wing ideologies.

That IS my conclussion. I wish it were not so. Hopefully, people will mature globally so we see a shift to the centre like we have in Canada(not that its utopia in anyway).
See my signature...Khalil Gibran may have well been refering to the right-wing :D

Makes me realise how lucky we are in Canada(even tho the socio-economic realities are different from that of India or the US).

Our conservatives are probably more(if not the same as) to the left than the democrats :D

Yeah, I've heard a comment from Americans that I know (especially during the pres. elections) that says - "Stephen Harper is more 'liberal' than Kerry' :) ........of course, 'liberal' in my books isn't a bad word!

That will happen when people stop being aquisitive. Read never.
I think this will be the next big evolutionary change in us, i.e. our brains will change in a way so we dont behave the way we do. A few 1000 years at the least. Actually I dont see it happening. The world will stop functionaing then.

Political cycles apparently have nothing to do with maturity or lets say well reasoned thinking.

Once upon a time The tories in UK were so well entrenched, no matter what labor did, they could not win the elections. Now its the other way.

Lets see if that happens in Canada. The tories did get 99 seats. All they need is a small shift in voting in Ontario and Quebec.

The Democrats have an uphill task, even with hillary Clinton.

The BJP will be back for sure in the near future.

True, but that is because now "Labour" under Tony Blair are more "Tory" than the Tories ever were :D

The Tories/Conservatives in the UK do not need to spend time and money winning elections because Mr. Blair is anyway doing what *they* would have done :D
