Hi All,
Hope you can help me with this query. My first port of entry into Canada will be Vancouver and will then catch a connecting flight from Vancouver to Toronto. Since Vancouver will be the first Port of entry into Canada I assume this is where I have to clear immigration & customs?. (Pls correct me if this is not the case). Or, is it at your ultimate destination?
My second query is how much time does it usually take (on an average) to clear customs and immigration at the first port of entry (if that is the case)? (Probably Vancouver and toronto may take a longer time considering the number of immigrants who first arrive at these airports. ) Is there a special consideration (for quicker processing) for people/families arriving with small children/infants?
The reason I am seeking clarification for this is that I have a connecting flight to Toronto from Vancouver exactly 2 hours from arrival at Vancouver. And I don't intend to miss the connection.
Your immigration and customs clearance will be done at your PoE, which is Vancouver in your case.
It shouldn't take 2 hrs. for that.
Normally, you can check-in for domestic flights even 30 minutes before take-off, so even if your process takes 1.5 hrs you are still ok.
It is anyway a small airport and not like Heathrow or O'Hare where you have to walk miles to take trains to get to your gate

Many thanks for the clarification.
