Hello Mr. Massood,
I have a question regarding my eligibility to apply under the Skilled Worker Category specifically with respect to the number of points (if any) I qualify for in the 'Work Experience' section. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with this. My detailed work experience is below:
The following two were acquired as paid full-time (40 hrs/week) co-op terms during my bachelor's degree in the US. I have letters of reference from my supervisors and year end tax forms (W-2) from each company showing my pay and my contract letter mentions the position was full-time on a temporary basis with no benefits. I have copies of the work contract (no originals) but both companies are based in the US.
03/2000 - 09/2000 : Process Engineer
03/2001 - 09/2001 : Computer Hardware Engineer
I currently hold the following position which is part of my Master's degree at a Canadian university. I get a monthly stipend for this position (alongwith pay-stubs)and a T4A form at the end of the year but the university has not associated any "number of hours" with this position. I started getting paid for this from 09/2003 but from 09/2003 to 04/2004 I was enrolled in courses. From 05/2004 - present I am doing research work only (the only course on my transcript is ##Research/Thesis.
09/2003 - present : Research Assistant
My work (thesis) is very practical oriented with actual prototype development. I can probably request my supervisor to mention that the work is not purely academic in nature and that it has a pratical component if need be.
Thank you for your help and time.
Best regards
if it was paid work, it is 'work' and you should get points for experience.
