We are having problems getting car insurance. Can someone guide us. Here's our situation:

Myself and my husband recently moved from the US and we both got our G license. We are still driving on US state farm insurance. Our request to transfer our state farm insurance to canada was denied as my husband's driving history is too bad. He has couple of tickets and 1 at fault claim. We applied for TD insurance and were refused as well. Don't know what options we have. My history is all clear. I think even if i apply for insurance, they ask me my previous insurance details and since myself & my husband were on the same policy, the bad history will affect me too. Also we have 2 cars to be insured.

We don't know what to do. Can someone show us a way. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try the web site of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (www.ibc.ca). They have a list of all the insurance companies. You may have to do some calling around.

When you move from US to Canada and if you convert your US license to Canadian license, insurance companies would require two things from you in order to get you the benefits of US license and insurance history:
1) Letter of experience/s from US insurance company/ies for the last 6 years
2) Driving abstract from DMV for the last 3 years
This applies for all the drivers in the household.
If you do not have either of these documents, you may not get the benefit of US license and insurance experience and unfortunately, you'll have to start all over again as if you are a new driver and never had any insurance before.
You can have two different policies on two different cars. On one policy, husband being the principal driver and on the other, wife being the principal. You can have these policies with two different companies also but you'll have to give the information of the other driver and the other policy to each company. That way you can save little bit money. For example, if you have a clean record, you can get the insurance with a regular company like TD or RBC etc. but your husband will have to take the insurance first with the facility (high risk) market because his record is not good. So when you take insurance with TD or RBC, you give your husband's policy information to them and that way, you get better rates. Also if you separate policies, your husband's record will not affect your policy/ record and vice-versa.
Hope this helps. In case you need some more advise, do not hesitate to call me.
