Hi,

Landed just 3 days back. So far, no bad experience.

We are (me & my wife) presently staying in a guest house opposite to Kennedy MRT station, but looking for a semi-permanent place to stay for the next 6-7 months.

Ideally the room should be furnished with telephone, computer with hi-speed internet access, etc. Kitchen & washroom can be sharable.
Preferable location: Etobikoke, Missiga., or anywhere which is near to public transport.

Thanx

congrats, torronto is a nice place. dont panic and waste time. reach out .Contact local indians. They will prove helpful in getting you find accommodation. Applly for SIN. Open Bank account immediately. And get some private medical insurance for first three months. All is not that difficuilt. Just come out and see things happening faster than you ever imagined. Its not India.Missisa. is good affordable with good scope for job Have a nice stay in a nice country-pasha

Even though I landed in Toronto last year I had to return immediately and did not apply for my health card before coming back. Now that I am returning for good any idea how long it will take for my health card? How much Medical insurance coverage will I need to purchase?

Hi

Need some help.

I want to apply for a cell phone, but without a SIN card or a Credit card, Fido or any other service provider is not willing to sell me one. I dont want to go in for a prepaid plan (which is readily available), because then all incoming call becomes chargable. The promotional scheme of free incoming calls of Fido for the initial 3 months is very appealing. Any idea how to solve this issue?

I also want to take a normal telephone connection, but almost all the service providers are asking for a SD of $200, and an activation fee of $50. The accomodation where I stay already has a telephone point of Sprint, but its no longer active. Is there any way of bypassing these expenses????

Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks

Sumjo,

When I came here, I got a cell phone without a SIN from rogers. I did have a credit card from USA. I had to give a local billing address though.

Maybe Rogers have changed their rules.

From Rogers I got the cellphone connection without SIN number/PR card

I had to pay security deposit of $100.
