Hi Partickm,
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Similarly, if one is a PR of Canada and acquires the permanent residency of another country (US or whatever), he/she would lose the landed immigrant status of Canada.
The simple act of *applying* for US residency will not cause the person to lose PR, but accepting the US green card and entering the US as a GC holder will cause the person to lose Canadian PR.

Could you provide me any official CIC website which could confirm your above statement.I'll then to forward the same to my friend who is in similar situation.
thanks

Hi Friends
As per the new rules effective from June 2002, to retain PR status of canada, he/she must be physically present in canada 2 years in every 5 year period. If he/she fulfills this condition, he/she can stay anywhere in the world in the remaining 3 years period.(even with PR of other countries, no body will care). He/she will never loose PR of canada as long as he/she fulfills 2 out 5 year rule.
For other details one can go through CIC manuals:

Good Luck
PMA.
