I have a doubt.
Is it assumed that you are supposed to know Hindi if you are a Desi? I find many postings replied in Hindi (though written in English).
It will be nice if replies are in English as everyone may not know Hindi.
Hope my view will be taken in the right sense.

Probably 'cause Hindi is our Rashtriya Bhasha (National Language)

But English and French are the national languages here.. not Hindi.
Original poster has a very valid point. Frequently we ignore the fact that a good percentage of Indians don't speak Hindi.

Thanks...........
Many Desis I meet generally assume, that any Desi they meet, know Hindi and start talking in Hindi.Sometimes, the other person, if he/she does not know Hindi, does not feel good.
By the way, what do you think about Desis who converse in their mother tongue(native language), when a group of people who do not know that language are present?

Being an Indian , it is assumed in conversations that the other person knows Hindi (since it is our national language ) however if there is a Desi who does not understand Hindi , he should / can inform other people about it so that they can make sure they do not speak in hindi and make the other person feel out of place .

We will find a way or we will make one
Thanks for your thoughts, Smiley.
