Hi all,

As you know the new immigrants usually donot have TV, VCR, VCD player etc for first few weeks. Internet is a good media but you have to sit on the chair in front of the monitor, does not help you to forget everything else in the world (The effect that Hindi movies have on our brains for three hours).

So, I request you to list some Options for new immigrants for his metal entertainment for example few cinema house, video Parlour, Good exhibition grounds etc. ..

Do we have some friends cirlce, coffee shops and other places for making new friends there...

Kindly list some other options also which have dual purpose of entertainment and teaching new cultural experiences to the immigrants.

No one thinks about entertainment for first few months. I saw my first movie (in theater) after two years!.

The best place to make friends and cirlce is living in desi building and to go to religious place regularly. There are Swaminarayans (very strong), Iskon, Grurudwaras, jamatkhanas, Swadhyayis and whole lot of Temples around GTA.

Some temples put buses on Sunday. So you don't have to pay anything to reach to temple. On top of that you will have prasad (a full dinner!) in most of temples free of charge!

Dear Guru Jee,

Thanks dor this valuable information.

You will be glad to know that with the advancement of economy in India, some Indian religious Institues have also started providing free transport on various festivels and fairs etc..

I would suggest an outdoor kind of activity rather than an inside activity. I myself am looking for a outdoor kind of activity for weekends such as criket or football to keep ourselves active

Blame it on Canadian weather, but today is first of OCtober, and within few weeks, outside activity will be severely curtailed. So temples are the best source of gathering and socializing. So, once again, everybody will look forward to May to get rid of sweaters, breathe some fresh air and think of outside activity.

I live right besides Brampton Sportsplex, but too lazy to go to swimming pool or their gym. Even when I used to live in other apartment, they had swimming pool, but was too lazy to go downstairs.

Hi Friends,

I am writting after LOOOOONG time. I was in Canada for one month. I went to many places during last november.

There are many places for a new immigrants to go depending upon one's interst. but the major one are listed as follows:

Librarries, Community centres, Gurudwara, Mandir, Churches, Shooping malls, walking gardens, movie theater complexes, Lake shore, Casino, race course, Niagra falls, University, India market, bars and pubs etc.. I my self visted all these and many more places.

But donot try to go walking near the highway (401, QEW and DVP etc), School, any building having a human or dog guard on duty, deep in lake water, railway line etc etc..

It all depends how much money and time (on holidays) and the comapny one has. It is better to move with someone having a car during the weekday's evenings and on public transport during the weekend.

Keep walking forward.

Enjoy Happiness
