I do not understand this thing about Miss C becoming Miss U. I didn't even know the event was taking place. The day after, I called a friend, who has been here only 3 years, and he told me about it and said he was amazed that The Star did not carry it.I think it did but it was published in the back of beyond, somewhere. The following day, however, a columnist did explain as to why that was the case and a photo was finally published 2 days after the event.
However a pregnant Britney made headline news if any of you who read The Star remember.
Such contradictions.
For me, I'd rather an Indo- Canadian lady became the PM rather than a Miss C

This is a matter of great pride indeed!!

This really amazes me no end!! What is there to be proud of insomething of this nature?

Going all dizzy and excited over this, is something typical with desis. I think this mad fascination with the event has really only soared after the Sushmita and Aishvarya deals and the hype created by the media.

Most Canadians in fact, are not even aware that someone from their country has won the crown, and even if they do there is no feeling of pride or any such thing for them.

It is just another glamour event with stupid pretty girls parading around. If one of them is very pretty, sexy and can answer a couple of questions
suitable for perhaps a high school student, how does it bring pride for country??

Really what is the deal?

I disagree with a few adjectives used here!

I didn't even know the event was on, despite the fact that I follow The Apprentice and am a media major.
However whether the girls are stupid or pretty that is debatable.
Natalie is a graduate of Ryerson (double grad if I'm not mistaken)
Natalie's nose I think needs a job.
However if it somehow propels one to fame and moolah like Ash or Arnie(he was Mr . Universe in his day) , why not?
But then as said before, if the Miss U pageant isn't so hot why was a pregnant Britney recently or a pregnant Demi Moore several years ago?
Is it because the Miss U pageant is so passe and photos of "buns in the oven" are novel? At least in Canada.

Which adjectives? About the girls?

Let's see the ones I used

1. pretty? What's not to agree with that? That is the primary and fundamental qualification required to enter the contest.

2. sexy? - Repeat of 1.

3. stupid - Well maybe not for all, but that applies for most of them. I haven't watched too many of these shows, but from the few I did, answers givenby them to questions at various stages, did not make them come across as bright. In fact a lot of them were downright stupid and ridiculous!

Hey, but if you have one of them in your sights, I don't want to offend you Thinkingone!:D
