Hi all CD 's,
Great to be in this forum.I was really happy to see this thread about the positive aspect of everybodys life .Its true that one has to go by all the so called negative facts of canadian life , but one never should forget that there is always a glimpse of light from the darkness(call it your destiny or oppurtunity)My journey also began in the same track.
I landed here alone in sept'04.Got in to labour jobs market. No responses for my related field job(Industrial engineering job with 10 yrs experience in Mumbai).Got 2-3 response after a couple of month, but the obvious question asked about CANADIAN EXPERIENCE pulls me back to square one.
Finally in Jan'05 I got 2 interview call . One from a big company from Guelph for quality technician and the other from a relative smaller company for an Indusrtrial Engineer(6 mon contract).Fortunately I was selected in both companies but I decided to opt for my related field job though it was in a contract position. The only thing that clicked in both companies was the ability to express and the will to succeed. No recruiter wants his employer to be a REFORMER but to be a PERFORMER.
Now as my contract is getting over in july 31st(happens to be my b'day )I am putting my finger crossed and analysing myself for the efforts I have put in this last 5 months for the company.I still dont know whether they will hire me or extend my contract or fire me.What ever the consequence is I always see this as a stepping stone to climb up.
Now i am joined by my wife and my 1.5 yrs old daughter, who always bring me good luck in my new endeavours towards life.
Good luck to all CD's and be positive.

Good stuff, pksatpathy!
One suggestion I have is to make sure you start your search elsewhere too while you still have a month. Although most times employers will renew your contract if they're happy with you, there's still a bit of risk involved.
Always good to have more options than one.
I also have a few questions.
1) What is your educational qualification?
2) How did you continue your job search while you were still working in a labour job? What resources did you use?
3) Was there ever a time you were thinking about giving up and going back, how did you cope with those thoughts?
4) Lastly, what advice do you have for other members based on your experiences?
Would be good if you could share some more information for the benefit or other members.
Thanks again for your feedback and Happy B'day in advance!

Are you there?
Thanx for ur encouraging words. As u hv suggested I hv alredy started firing my updated resume all over.
I have done my mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Mumbai.I hv already registered as an associate member in OACETT. I will be giving the PPE exams in nov'05.
As far as giving up is concerned never!!I had only one belief which will stay with me forever." U plan it ,act upon it and u will one day get it"
Doing the labour jobs I always networked with people in the community programs , and was always in the search of suitable vacancy in all related job sites.Rest I left in the hands of ^^.
ALL SENIOR CD"S(SUGGESTION WELCOME)
COULD WE HAVE A FORUM WHERE PEOPLE ESTABLISHED CAN GUIDE OR MENTOR OTHER STRUGGLING CD'S IN THEIR SAME FIELD.
