BL saab,
As you are to posting ‘Sorry-your English is bad…’ in study section and it to be being etched in stone as it were, here are some ‘tips’ from my side like so to making it more correct.

‘Before doing that let me tell a little bit about myself. I am an immigrant doing my undergraduate in Vancouver, BC. I did my high school in the USA and am now in Canada pursing…’

Should be reading ‘pursuing’…

‘…perfect the accent and the language.’

Konsa accent? American, Canadian, ‘Austraylian’, South African yaan British? British to kehte hai “English is my language, all you guys, Americans, Canadians, Austraylians and Afrikaners included, have accents’.

‘...refrain from using Indian slang you should fine’

Must to be ‘you should be fine’

‘Because people from Europe have all sorts of accents yet people are able to understand them because their English is grammatically perfect.’

Europe also including Bulgaria, Rumania, Hungary, Italy, Portugal etc etc? You really thinking their English is grammatically perfect? Kya joke marela, bai. Chalo joke to hona chahiye, nahin to lesson ekdum boring.

‘2)Read! : Always read anything that is in English. The newspaper is an excellent example. Not only do you get knowledge you can also have a feel for how people actually express themselves in Canada. It is quite different from how Indians speak’.

Everyday, I am noticing too many errors in mainstream newspapers, which peoples are claiming to be ‘typos’, though tip is good one.

“What time is it?” aur “What is the time?”

I am not being able to find anything wrong in either statement. I am to be showing many peoples who have studied from KG in Canada and they are not knowing what is wrong with first question. Many peoples are also tolding that they are finding the first question more correct than 2nd.

‘You are from a different country and why should they hire someone from a new country to their company?’

Should be reading ‘ from a new country into their company’ or ‘for their company’ or leave out ‘to their company’ altogether. And besides, it is to be happening all the time. Companies hiring immigrants, I am to be meaning.

I am to be personally not agreeing about English language skills. Last week, my company to be hiring 2 Chinese peoples who are speaking andaa English. Also since the long time, one Italian there who also speak andaa English. We are to be calling him ‘tutti frutti’. But his other qualities are being there. Same for the Chinese. ‘Vely’ good at number crunching. Many other peoples in my company have zip command of angrezi.

I am knowing many peoples with impeccable English and they are makhi maroing, while others whose English is bekar having very good jobs.

Even my friend’s chintoo brother going to school where lady teacher speaking English using expressions like ‘much more better’ and worse and in totally Punjabi accent, but teaching math. All students love her because she very caring and good at teaching math, and to be boosting her morale, they are toldin ‘your English is priceless’.

Everyday I am to meeting professionals here in good pay jobs but they are not to speaking English good. Also auditors coming and very professional but English speaking no good.

Ok BL , you always wanna constructive feedback. Hoping aap mistakes ko amend karenge, nahin to credibility will not being there. And if you or author can be to explaining why ‘what time is it?’ is wrong , I am sure everybody to be appreciative.

Just for all peoples who to be reading this, even though English bahut necessary hai, it is not compulsory that you speaking purrfectly for job that is paying above per capita income in Canada. Maybe that is why, SW, on the purpose making mistakes in his, or maybe SW is her, written suggestions, and so to be implying that ek, do teen, char, mistakes theek hai, but much more than that is not to be permissible, though I am having doubts that he to be having that in mind when he worded suggestions.
Chalo, ekdum lamba post ho gaya- maybe peoples yawning.

My real estate agent barely spoke proper english but the guy makes a lot of money every week, So he would fall into the latter category and I am sure we have a huge number of members on this forum with impeccable english but struggling to land good jobs.

From my stand point if your english is good (better) that is one thing you dont have to worry about when sitting in an interview room with three or four goras with canadian accents. If you have a good command of english your self confidence is going to be boosted. On the other hand I know a lot of people with bad english but the self confidence is astounding and they are the ones who are really successful. In the end it boils down to your confidence with which you do things, whether your english is good or not is not going to matter. What will matter though is do u have it in you to carry it off. But for those of us who are not gifted with such higher self confidence I think it is a wise idea to work on our english flaws and try to fill them.

Azazf,

I am totalling agreeing that Attitude first, then Aptitude. Whether you to be having job, self-employed like real estate agent, businessman or investor, whatever.
But I am not agreeing that self-confidence is to be gifted. If you are to be saying that one should be to working on improving English, I to always be promoting that one to be working on building self confidence and to be making better the development of positive Attitude. Attitude and self confidence can also to be improved like the English, but first to coming Attitude then Aptitude.

There be plenty other A's also. Ambition, Action, Aasra, Activity all necessary. Not forgetting also to help you along the rough roads the Alcohol.... :D

In the end we are to be in land of Martin and martinis- Salaam Simply South! SSS-Kya alliteration!

Have you been feeling ill recently? This might be the reason ......

Medical statistics show that:
- The Japanese eat very little fat, and have fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
- But the French eat a lot of fat, and also have fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
Medical statistics also show that:
- The Japanese drink very little red wine, and have fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
- But the Italians drink large amounts of red wine, and also have fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.

Conclusion:
Eat & drink what you like. It's speaking English that kills you !!!
