Facts compiled by you are good and show the differences between New Orleans and Mumbai. But note the following

1. New Orleans is below the sea level
2. It is protected by the leeves and they breached
3. Most of the water came in from the sea ( not all from rain )
4. There is no way the water can go back
5. Mumbai is above sea level and the water drained out over time

Also, I think this is not a fair comparison.

Not to belittle the damage and devastation caused by the rains in Bombay (and nearby areas), but nothing compares to a category 5 hurricane.

The person who wrote this supposed email probably has never experienced even a category 3 hurricane.

Even trying to compare the number of deaths and the restoration of "normal" services and electricity within 48 hrs. in these two cases is useless, regardless of how developed a country is.

I can relate from personal experience that a category 5 hurricane is the black wrath of nature unleashed at its worst !

The things you mention are not in a man's control. I fully agree with your comments. But something to be noted is that they knew before a few hours that it was going to be a cat5 hurrincane; they should have had started to plan in advance in the neighbouring places and should have rushed in with aid and help as soon as the wrath was over. It took four days, i dont think it took them that long to get hold of key positions in afghanistan.
The leader's a moron and a rascist. As far I am concerned it is a blatant act of rascism. Those people did not deserve to be left to rot and die. We will never even know how many people actually died.
