Fido.
Hello CD's,
As a continuation of the discussion that me and my friends were having, Please find below a recent conversation which I find as very thoughtful.
For newbies, This is a conversation from my friend (An Architect turned Accountant and working in Coca Cola, Sydney) addressed to an Architect working in the gulf (Not UAE). The Architect working in the Gulf, refused Canadian immigration at the last minute and prefered Gulf to Canada. Again this conversation is just to reinforce some beliefs and not to project India as the greatest country in this world or it is not to bash Canada.

Chiman Bhai,
You are 100% right. You have made a right decision not to go to Canada.
(no heart feelings Mr. TK A). These countries just plan a brain drain
from India.
Yes. You are again right by saying that the whole world is looking at
India while we Indians are away from the country. It is a good thought to
move back to India if you get a good offer. No second thoughts on this.
This is my opinion.
From my side of the story, I am planning to quit Australia in 5 years time
once my daughter finishes her degree. I have to seek for mappillai for her
and hence it is easy to stay in India to look for one. (note: Hope she
leaves this to us and dont find her own match - so far so good). Seeking
for mappillai sitting in Sydney is ridiculus. Whatever money you guys have
done, be happy with it. The bottom line is happiness. If you think by
being with your family folks is going to bring you happiness (also in your
own country) then do and do it. Money becomes secondary to life and peace
of mind.
Couple of families have already left Sydney (though were in good jobs)
because of old age and wedding issues for children. The money you earn in
Gulf or any other place is not worth it in terms of Indian rupees as of
now. For eg. If you made a savings of 100KA$ in the last 5 years (That is
all you can do if you are in a above average pay scale) then in terms of
indian rupees it is around 35 lacs. For this money you cant do anything.
A land in Velachey cost not less than 50 lacs and a sq ft of flat in
Velachery is Rs 4000/-. What do you do? A land in manapakkam near L&T is
70 lacs (Refer to the internet). Now what is use of staying away from
family and friends (sacrificing the religious rituals, festivals, family
gatherings etc ) and go back with nothing. Instead enjoy all this and
still get paid a handsome in India. But please make sure that you have at
least a house to stay in without any mortgage in India. Because the rent
is killing everyone there.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Whatever is the discussion and majority thinks, I will always have my scepticism regarding quality of life in India - in general. But... that's me!!
