we decided to give heavy breakfast in morning time with milk....like cereals etc...........so if not eating proprely in lunch time at least will help.

Anyway anybody have been asking questions to their kids what they are doing in lunch hrs?

One thing we noticed when we asked my son than he replied "you know when we have a lunch hrs. all the kids want to finished their lunch as fast as possible so they have more time to play outside or inside."

Jonav and Guptamik have given very good suggestions and I am sure with little more creativity, you can prepare similar items which your kids will love. It is too early for them to understand difference between junk and non-junk food especially if you take into account the constant advertising and the difference in perception between us and others, including the teachers. Do you consider Pizza to be junk food? What about sandwiches?

Please avoid ROTI with Subzi in lunch box - unless you can pack them as Burritos or frankies. Importantly, involve them in the process of deciding the menu and making the choices, they will feel more responsible.

Also, it is a fact that schools have lunch room monitors during lunch hour whose objective is to have the kid finish the lunch within the first 20 minutes and let them off to play. It is surprising that they request kids to bundleup and play outside even during very cold and snowy weather - but it is a fact.

My son also had the issues and we tried in vain to have him finish his lunch in school. Fortunately, since my wife is home, we now bring him home for lunch.

Good luck and I am sure things will work out eventually.
