There is no doubt that Ambanis have created tens of thousands of jobs and made millions of people rich. OTOH, all the wealth was created by them not only thru hard work, but "smart" work. They had/have netas and babus in their pockets.

Indira Gandhi was the chief mentor for Ambani patriarch. Rumor has it that she had invested crores during 70s in Reliance. After she died, Dhirubhai gave the details to the prodigal son reg her investments. All customs duties were waived for the machinery they bought from abroad where othes have to pay the duties. Reliance point man, Balasubramaniam alias Bala, was stationed in Delhi to take care of business with the netas. Bala knew how to pull off with the CONg(I) politicians.

On a lighter note, Tina Ambani (Tina Munim) still looks good!

As for people who attend Wharton, Kelloggs, MIT,Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, I run into them frequently and not all come from rich families and not all end up being great rich entrepreneurs. However many have fat salaries.
People from these unis have better bhao in the US and do end up being movers and shakers but not so much in Canada.
And besides there is a school of thought that great empires were originally built by 'unpads' , by street smart people rather than book smart
Bill Gates is one such example- a dropout from uni and look where he is.

Any news on Azim's offspring or Narayan Murthy's who didn't get into IIT but got into Cornell then I believe he hit Harvard.
