You are right. Kallis is an awesome player. Not as glamorous and controversial as Ponting but a better player.
He's the one who has kept South Africa batting together.
On his best days, Brian Lara is perhaps indestructible esp. on a fast paced pitch like West Indies, South Africa or England.
I saw him play in the West Indies during his peak times and he was classical.
No one can beat his style on his best day.
But he doesn't have consistency, temperament and down to ground attitude that Tendulkar has.
Brian got cocky, spoilt and began to think he was above the game.
Pride goeth before a fall, and he made a slow, lacklustre and forgettable exit from the game.
If we don't go by figures, certainly Ponting is way ahead with respect to Tendulkar

That doesn't prove anything.
There are names on that list that are nobodies when compared to great batsmen past and present.
IMO, Dravid has been more consistent compared to Tendulkar.
Tendulkar has this tendency of giving away his wicket at the most crucial times when the team needs his most; and sometimes he gives away his wicket is silly manner that is not becoming of a batsman who is often compared to Bradman.
Dravid on the other hand has the opposite tendency he guards his wicket well and usually sticks around when needed most.
that said, Tendulkar's range of shots, class and ability is better than Dravid's.
It's like Chanderpaul and Lara to some extent.
Lara has more ability and better class than Chanderpaul yet Chanderpaul has served his team in very crucial times when none of the other top batsmen did.
