Hello,

My parents are preparing their visit visa application to visit us here. Their agent told them that they need to provide valuation of their assets certified by a chartered accountant. And when my father went to a chartered accountant, he told he has to charge INR5000 to prepare a valuation of assets.

Is this document necessary? If it is, whats the best way to get this document?

Thanks,
Atlmallu

I don't know what is 'certified' CA...
Asset valuation is recommanded but any CA would be fine.
CA will charge depending on how much assets do you have for valuation.
Just find a cheaper CA.

Thanks. Just to clarify, I don't see the requirement for CA's valuation on the checklist provided on VFS website -

It just says 'NEW: In order to ensure timely processing you must include a one page summary of the financial information you are submitting.'. Can we ourselves prepare the summary in one page, or a CA is definitely required?

Thanks!

I have recently had my parents visitor visa approved for their very first visit to Canada. I must also mention that they have never ever stepped out of India before as well.

Please note, they didn't submit any financial evaluation at all.

Here's what they provided from their end:

1. Latest property tax return for year 2011
2. Telephone and utility bills
3. Statement from each of their Banks outlining the balance they have.
4. Notarized copy of their business license
5. A notarized declaration that they will come back to India within the stipulated timeframe along with the other points declaring all the valid reasons (documented).

Not sure, if they have just introduced the financial evaluation as a result of this latest immigration scam:

Hope it helps.

Ok here is the thing: The CIC or the government here does not specify, what documents are absolutely necessary to get a visit visa. That being said, like febpreet said, one may not need the financial evaluation certificate.

What ultimately more documents like the financial valuation certificate does is - to reinforce the fact that the applicant is of sound financial status, that he or she does not have the need to settle down in Canada. In other words, it tells the visa officer that the applicant will return to India, and not stay back. I did attach one, when my mother in law came here in 2006. It worked for her.

Having said that, is that something that is absolutely a must? Well this is more of a grey area because, in the end, what goes on the visa officer's mind is something one can not fathom.

In the end, I believe that there are some factors that matter - the applicant's financial status, the sponsor's employment and ability to take care of the needs of the visa applicant, and of course the applicant's ties to the home country.
