http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/06/08/india-investment-exits-idINDEE85708Y20120608

This is the first time that I have heard some company executive venting his frustrations against the bureaucracy.

Although, the article does mentions

"According to a Nomura report last month, multinationals pulled $10.7 billion out of the country in 2011, up from $7.2 billion in 2010 and $3.1 billion in 2009.

To be sure, that's far less than inbound corporate investment, which surged 88 percent to a record $36.5 billion in the year that ended in March, according to official data, fuelled in part by two multi-billion-dollar energy deals."

Same article, different site. Interesting to read the user comments
http://www.firstpost.com/business/upa-ii-has-no-spine-or-drive-fumes-german-airport-operator-336440.html

The article mentions that UPA-II has no spine, reiterating most of the netizen's sentiments. Actually, I believe he is referring to the puppet.

IMO, the political process is severely hampering India's progress. You have a so called PM who has no brain or voice of his own, a 70+ year old finance minister perhaps with socialist leaning and a chief minister also with socialist leaning who thinks she can make the entire country dance to her tune, and unfortunately she is successful.

The opposition is no good either. They are busy fighting among themselves.

To add insult to injury, Akhilesh's Yadav wife gets elected unopposed - all other candidates back out. What a black day for democracy.

Or are people really getting the government they deserve? Why isn't anybody interested in starting a political reform that will have elections every 4 instead of 5 years? :(

Absolutely. That is the crux of it.

I forgot to add in my original message - This is a perfect example of how our economic well being is dependent upon person we elect. It shows a tieup of economics and politics.

A population of 1 billion with states divided linguistically is disadvantageous in this case, as there is not a single thread that unites us Indians, not just one issue that cause us to come together as one nation. It is unfortunate that state level parties like BSP, SP, RJD, TMC and rest of the cabal can wield influence at national level to promote their own selfish interest. :(

Yes, very closely tied for India as it is for any country. And the politics is closely tied to a lot of other internal factors, it is chain reaction with no clear beginning, but very clear impact on the nation's well being.
