Hello CDs: Wanted some info regarding student visa. My cousin has done B pharma from india, she wants to come to canada and with new rules for PR it seems like student visa is the only option. Agent suggested her Mohawk and sheridian college for QA and Clinical research course. It costs about 10 - 12 K per year for 2 years. Is it a good idea ? Chances of it be converted to work permit and PR eventually ..? How do other people pay for such hefty fees ? Can they get loan here ?
Thanks

Find a College or an University closeby and you can provide a little help to them with room and board and a bus pass...
The fees charged by the Universities & Colleges are way beyond anyones' reach as an International student. But a few who have a stash and are ambitious enough and a few who can surely excel in their field, make it here and then a few out of them, to the top.
The main reason they do not provide any student loans or bursaries to international students is, they don't stay here and cannot recover from them once they leave. So, the Government only want to provide these to those who are residents. That does not eliminate them or the other avenues that the students can pursue here in Canada..
So, there are a few avenues left for them to take, which is, Co-Op programs. So, here are a few. You will have to choose one that will let them in here and if they want to, then, stay here after two years of work experience. DURHAM COLLEGE 3 yr co-op. Sheridan co-op. It will let them work 20 hours a week and also part time in co-op. You will have to see the experts at these locations and get an idea about their usage of time and emoluments available at various locations. Ryerson also had a food technicians Degree. So, check with them also.
