Hasni,
Ask someone to get the data transfered to a separate external hard disk. This will involve a fee for both the transfer and the external hard disk and throw your computer away. Take joy that the environmental fees does not apply in your case.
Go an buy a used computer. For Autocad, you need a decent system. (I am a Autocad draftsman, btw). May be you should get a good system as you may have to learn solid works (I saw in 2010 that there was a huge demand for solid works).

Always get a powerful system (a wise investment) as you never know what tomorrow may bring.

These days, at interviews, they may even give you a small assignment in Autocad to do from home. You never know.

A computer and a powerful internet connection is always a very wise investment. Use survey lion website to write a few surveys and earn some dollars (may be $ 5 per survey). This will suppliment / subsidize your computer cost.

Dear FH, thanks for your detailed reply. Yes there is some very important data on the desktop that I need to retrieve. Please tell in simple word that how can I get it. I don't have much knowledge of computer hardwares. Also please say in simple words that how should I proceed step by step to get my PC repaired / disposed off. Pardon me if I sound bit ignorant.
Friends also share that if I go for a new PC with 200 CAD budget, which brand, config should I be having as I shall be doing some AutoCAD occasionally. And which is the best place to buy, are refurbished ones at best buy are good option.
Thanks

There is a quad core on the market for that price, unless they are sold out. THE BEST ONE FOR CAD CAM.

Thanks FH, TK and all for your valuable advice. Finally. Finally i got Dell (Tower) intel Quad Core from Compu Point for 200 bucks. Mine has got two faulty capacitors on the mother board and most of the technicians suggested not to go for motherboard replacement but for a new one. Though one technician has suggested to replace the capacitors but repair cost was quite high around 80 bucks.

Good job Hasni.
Repairing will do no good. Even in India, people like to throw it or sell it for scrap.
I will tell you my personal experience.
4 years back I bought an LED TV (Samsung) for Rs 32,000. From the second year, it started giving trouble and died some 3 months back. Called a TV technician from Samsung and he asked for Rs 16,000 to repair it. However he told me that he can do it privately for Rs 8,000. By mistake I agreed. New TV's (China ones like Sansui, Mitashi, etc.. )are available new for Rs. 15000 and branded ones from rs 20,000. I should have thrown it away. Now the tecnician, every week says that he is waiting for second hand spare part and that he will give it when he finds it. For 3 months, I have not seen TV. When I tell him to just give the TV back, he has said that he has done some work on the TV and hence we have to wait for the part or give the TV to him for Rs 2000. We are still waiting.

Sometimes, we have to take hard decisions and just move on.

I agree, and sorry for the decision that you took and is making you suffer now. Must say that such things teach us a lot.
