Hi all
My parents are here in Canada for 6-month visit. We just received an email to submit their passport for PR staff to Ottawa office.

I have a couple of questions:
1. What is the timeline to receive PR stamp i.e. return of passports?
2. Since they are in Canada already, do they have to go back to India to activate their PR card?

Your Parents are O.K. to stay here and complete the process from within. They will direct you to a local Immigration Center IF NEEDED. It will be for a picture-taking session for their P.R.Cards. Currently, they also ask for BIOMETRICS.

Prepare a list of goods to follow in Quad and carry it with you. That must include the Funds to follow and any JEWELRY to bring in on their next visit or LATER. So, send the Passports through a "COURIER" and track the same. Let them take their own sweet time. You are in the clear and you have accomplished the BEST for them. ( It generally takes 10 working days. TWO good weeks)

Please don't let them leave till they get their P.R. Cards if any travel is called for. (Also keep a Colour copy and the stamping there in the pages of their Passports with you, on file.

Welcome to Canada as PR.

Family members outside Canada
Your family members outside of Canada cannot be processed for permanent residence as part of your application. However, they will still need to undergo an immigration medical examination and pass criminal and security clearances. You may sponsor them once you become a permanent resident. This is only for O.P. and his family. Not for Parents.
