Five women have been killed and several others injured in a stampede at the New Delhi railway Station today.Two of the dead have been identified as Kanta Devi and Laxmi, Railway sources said. The mishap took place at Platform No. 3 around 2 pm (IST) when a large number of people were descending the stairs from the overbridge in a rush to catch Patna-bound Jan Sadharan Express.
Two women slipped on the stairs and many others fell on them, leading to injuries to at least 15 people, sources said. The injured were shifted to a nearby Railway hospital where five of them succumbed.
The crowds were bound for Bihar for Chhath Puja.

The event was shown later on TV, where the people were still seen fighting for seats on the train, not at all bothered that 5 people lay dead a few feet away.
