My Experience more...
Hi,
I am 44 yrs of age, and fairly new to this wonderful world of BPO. Having put in 25 years of successful existence in the FMCG sector and having reached the top most ladder in the industry's hierarchy, I thought it was end of the road as far as my career is concerned.
As a layman I had been following news regarding BPOs and their future in India. After toying with the idea for good three years, I decided to take the plunge and gave up my 25 years old area of expertise to join a BPO in Delhi.
Starting from the lowest rung was the best way of learning the ropes, and I started as a Senior Customer Care Executive for an outbound International process. Two months down the line, today after a successful stint in sales, I am responsible for the Quality department and am quite enjoying my newfound career.
My suggestion and advice to persons of my age & experience is don't get stuck to your thoughts that its too late in life to change the career track. Be confident and adaptable to new situations and people. Take the plunge! This is one decision you would never regret!!
Regards,
Puneet Sharma
I am confused. Is Iceberg and the writer of this letter the same person, or is Iceberg only quoting it?
If it is the latter, why?
What is FMCG? Whatever it is, this person says that he had reached the "top most ladder in the industry's hierarchy". Shouldn't that be "rung" instead of "ladder"?
If he has reached the top most rung why should he consider it the end of his career?

Iceberg is only quoting this.
My mistake I should have pointed this out.
FMCG- Fast moving consumer goods - as in toothpaste, soaps, etc. Now don't ask what is etc!!!
Why I posted this letter ?
I see many posts talking of or rather advising potential immigrants not to come here if they have good job and salary. Because one may to start from the bottom 'rung', but the point is it should be a personal choice and even someone in India has had a career change in his mid forties.
