Panaji, Feb 15 (IANS) Goa's INS Hansa naval air base has been put on alert after a leopard attacked an Indian Navy sentry, an official said Friday. A naval spokesperson said the leopard has been flitting in and out of the naval base, located 40 km from here. The forest department has been asked to trap the big cat. "The forest department has been putting in a lot of effort to cage the big cat, but the leopard has managed to elude capture," the spokesperson said. "The last sighting was late night, Feb 11, when a leopard attempted an attack on a naval sentry, positioned close to the technical and the military aircraft parking area," the spokesperson said. The sentry managed to dodge the leopard, which continues to stalk the naval base. INS Hansa is home to the Indian Navy's top squadrons, including the Mig 29. It is also used as a training base for the Indian Navy's pilots.
