New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) Fiji men and Kazakhstan women scored their first goals in the Hero Hockey World League Round 2 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Thursday. Seventieth-ranked Fiji showed a better performance than in previous matches and fought well against eighteenth-ranked China on the fourth day of the Hockey World League. However, they lacked the experience and skills of Chinese players and lost 1-4. In the 13th and 37th minute (PC), Yanjun Su from China scored first two goals for his team. Captain Mi Ji scored in the 60th minute while Tao Li netted in the 69th minute. Adrian Smith scored for Fiji and was adjudged Player of the Match. Fiji will now face Bangladesh Saturday and Kazakhstan will play against India. In the women's hockey, 33-ranked Kazakhstan scored their first goal of the league against 22-ranked Malaysia but lost the match 1-3. Siti Noor Amarina Ruhani converted an early penalty corner into the first goal for Malaysia in the fourth minute. Norhasikin Halim scored in the 27th minute and Nor Azlin Sumantri in 33rd minute. Vera Domashneva struck for Kazakhstan. Malaysia now face Fiji Friday and Kazakhstan play against Russia.
