Indian ambassador meets South Korean president-elect








Seoul, Jan 15 (IANS) Indian Ambassador Vishnu Prakash Tuesday called on Park Geun-hye, who assumes office as the 18th president of South Korea Feb 25.

The ambassador conveyed warm felicitation and greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the people of India and wished her success in realizing her vision of a harmonious and prosperous Korean society.

He extended an invitation to her to visit India, noting that 2013 was the 40th anniversary year of establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and India.

Park, who recalled the strategic partnership between the two countries, spoke of her desire to see greater engagement and cooperation in all spheres, including trade and economics, an embassy press release said.

She remarked that India was one of the leading BRICS nations and an engine for global growth.
