Meetings and Picnics: Next meeting?
Started by: Garvo Gujarati on 11 Mar 2004
...$5 entrance fee sounds like a good idea to me. This will encourage people willing to participate to come and also keep the riff-raff out. Im not sure what happened at the last meeting and if the inclusion of food involved everyone starving for the whole day and then standing in line to eat thus missing the point of the "meeting" ... the reluctance to have food aboard definitely makes it seem like that. For myself, Im accustomed to gatherings here having food. This doesnt mean they revolve around food. Its preferable to me to have a glass of juice / pop in my hand or nibbling on a cookie. It also sub-consciously gives me 'something to do' in between talking to people. ...

I still remember London's Brick Lane and that 'Gandhi' restaurant in Amstredam where we found Indian food . Had taken some ready to heat and eat kind of stuff but the strategy which kept us afloat was to keep a stock of bread , butter , cucumber and sandwiches and replenish this stock as soon as depleted. I recall when in Venice , everyone was running towards the Bell Tower and I was running to find a convenience store :) Even the hotels in the ni...

Hope this forum will be helpful as always :-) 1) To stay for five nights with a less time consuming Indian buffet nearby for a $75 cap price range is Mississauga the only option for the hotel? 2) I would like to check a few apartment communities spread across the GTA during this trip to evaluate our move. Looking for a decent residential community, upper middle class in Indian terms with a very good/good school district. (not necessarily crowded skyrises). In the price range similar to $1600 - $2000 US East Coast House - that is what we rent for now. Both of us work and drive, not big time outside eaters, so being close to Indian groceries,Indian ...

Rasoi & Restaurants: How is Amma-New South Indian restaurant in Mississauga
Started by: tamilkuravan on 11 Feb 2008
Amma's restuarent: ...We tried couple of dishes (hakka chowmein, soup, manchurian, dosa etc) and didn't like it. We like typical Indian style hakka food, Amma's food was too mild for us and there was no sauce/vinegar on the table so we asked for it. Beleive me, he gave us a spoon of ketchup in a katori. Must say, the customer service is nice, they asked us several times if everything is ok. We will try their buffet some time but are not going back otherwise.
