Yep, they are from Calcutta - a pic of Victoria Memorial is on the wall:) Also v good is China Palace in the AMC theatre complex at Derry E & Hurontario. The only con to China Palace is that their portions are small - Ming Room has better value for money I didn't like Salt n Pepper - not v tasty.

Like in case, my EI is still left in Canada but after the end of the year, I will have no claim to EI. You can try second career and things like that. The govt. expects you to visit Food banks after your EI runs out or try the welfare options. The welfare options does not work out if you have money or things more than $ 3000 Welcome to Canada. One more thing to check, is why do you want to save? Govt takes care of basic pension and healthcare in old age. You just need to pay for house / car mortgage, food and utilities. The mindset in Canada needs to be different from India, there is no need to think of leaving property and money for your kids.

I think the main barriers for me are food habits (being vegetarian) and culture. I was not born and brought up here so find it difficult to align with. I have few friendly office colleagues but can’t count them as friend. Another interesting realization – I never felt necessity to have a non-desi friend. Period.

   ...e, my daughter and myself. Secondly, the OCI may be beneficial if you visit India often or ultimately decide to settle in India. But for visits, wouldnt taking a visa be more economical? Also, I think the Indian Government should not have required current Indian citizens who subsequently obtains citizenship of a foreign country to apply for OCI. It would have saved a lot of paperwork ; of course that would mean lost fees for Indian Govt. I am not sure how dual citizenship works for other countries that have the scheme. I know that people of Irish or British origin have two passports; Canadian as well as Ireland or UK. In our case, what we get is not even a Passport. What are your opini...

Citizenship: Updating Record of Landing during Citizenship Oath

   ... taken Citizenship Oath, I took Citizenship Oath yesterday. I the Notice of Oath it clearly mentions that we have to take our Record of Landing (IMM1000) and PR card during the Oath ceremony. I am not sure what is record of Landing, but I did have the IMM 5292 which was stapled to the Indian passport at the port of entry when I landed in Canada. I presented my PR card and IMM 5292 along with my India passport just before the Oath. However, the officer only took my PR card. According to the Notice it mentioned that they will 'update' the IMM 1000. But there was no update to any document which I have. Now my question is will this cause problem when I apply for Indian visa? I think they ask ...
