That is why you have a NRI a/c and an NRO a/c. You can transfer money from NRI to NRO a/c but not vice versa. Another method of conversion is to buy to convert INR into a physical asset - and bring it to Canada physically. Other legal methods are payment on business account for puchases (imports into India) under OGL (Open General Licence)....

Our Native Country!: Cancelled Indian Passport- Carry or Not.

...less asked by immigration (chances are less they will ask unless they have some issue with visa). This is what based on my experience for the last three visits this year (twice they even didn't ask for my OCI card (just looked at OCI stamp on my passport while entering the country) but they always ask for OCI card while leaving - don't know why?). I guess procedure remain same but you want to confirm with Embassy.
Originally posted by Bingo Should you carry cancelled Indian Passport every time you go back or they make some sort of entry of this cancellation in their database from prior visits.
...

Started by: shankaracharya on 19 Jan 2006
   ...
Orginally posted by shankaracharya I plan to buy some 22 CT gold jewellery in Mississauga. Would request for advice on whether it is worth buying here in comparison to India? In Chennai the price of 22 CT gold is Rs.742 per gram. When you buy an ornament they typically add 16% as wastage and also charge around Rs.500 on making charges. How does it work here in Canada. Should I buy the 24 CT gold from Scotia Bank and take it India ...

I don't know as to why u waste ur energy writing on the forum here. U r no more in canada. Please concentrate on ur profession and home front. This site has all the info esp of food bank and second career etc. Please write something new and positive for a change. No country is perfect. The people I know hv good jobs and we'll settled here. The only thing I found here is initial 2-3 yrs of struggle to settle down in a new country and little bit of cultural differences. Nothing more.

Driving: Conversion of Dubai license
Started by: Flotch on 31 Mar 2010
...I had one year old licence from Dubai and they gave me one year driving experience which qualified me for a G1 road test. So you can try to get a G2 road test which will give you a G licence. Actually the guy at the licensing counter was willing to give me 2 years driving experience becuase i had an "old" Indian driving licence. Unfortunately the Indian licence did not have a date of issue .... though he could make out the licence was very old !!!

Diamond road: ...carefully take the useful and undamaged parts one by one , catalouge it and sell it. Almost looks like new. Their price will be mid range. Buy this and take it to any body shop at confederation parkeway (south of central parkway W). Lots of vietnamese / korean / chinese body shop owners there who will do it for 1/2th the price of a desi body shop. I have done it this way before. Murali
