The median salary in Canada is about $45k per family and most of the Canadians live OK in that except for us Indians who have been only GMs and MDs back home. Our Native Country!: Will UPA govt survuvue trust vote on July 22

   ...Based on what the Indian news channels are reporting, the Govt. will barely manage to scrape thru the trust vote, mainly because of few anticipated abstentions. By the way anyone had a chance to watch the debate in the Parliament. I think L.K. Advani's attack on the Prime Minister was quite personal, your opinion. Few more hours and we will know wheather the elections will be in November or next March.

Perhaps, I will go through that route too. I had also sent an email to Indian Association in Sharjah asking whether they would provide me this service. Let's see what happens. Time is short.

I guess this should be an eye opener for all CDs here with OCI (including myself); always carry both visa and OCI card when travelling to India.

At lunch time, they can drop off at some soup kitchens for warm meals and kind words. Community centres have varied programes to help old people feel at home. Each time they said that I need a Surrender Certificate - even though the form for OCI clearly said that people who got their Canadian citizenship before 2009 do not need a surrender certificate (which is logical since there was no surrender certificate in 2004 when I surrendered my Indian citizenship). The problem they found with my passport was that it had a stamp of Cancelled - but not the stamp of Cancelled since the holder voluntarily acquired Canadian citizenship. (Funny - the three passports of my 3 family members all have the long cancelled stamped but not my passport!) So after trying it twice without success, I finally decided to app...
