Financial Planning: Get better return by having a small business while on a job
Started by: Cougar on 21 Mar 2009
... I have heard from quite a few folks that they run their small home business along with their jobs and get good tax returns by showing deficits in business. I was wondering of opening a home business of providing food on demand to selected customers, The magnitude of the business wont be as huge and will be operated from my own rental apartment. Sole purpose would be to help me get better tax refunds at the end of the year as at the moment due to my job i am falling in a higher category income bracket and am being hammered hard by the tax man. Would opening a business of the type that i mentioned even be a good idea, or would it be waste of time, would any one think that by doing ...

Most of the time, I happen to send an RFQ to some Canadian (read white) guy, but I always end up talking with an Indian guy (Gujarati in many cases). It is good to see that people immigrating from India do end-up getting a job in technical field (may not be their exact line of expertise) rather than stuck with factory jobs Meghal

...Yes, What are the advantages of OCI when compared to PIO cardholders? Apart from the fact that OCI confers on the recipient the status of an Indian overseas citizen, (i) an OCI is entitled to life long visa free travel to India whereas for a PIO cardholder, it is only for 15 years. (ii) a PIO cardholder is required to register with the local Police authority for stays exceeding 180 days in India on any single visit, whereas an OCI is exempted from registration with the Police authority for any length of stay in India. link: http://www.cgitoronto.ca/OCI/ociFAQ.html

Weaving the two tales together is a story of friendship, sacrifice and of a headstrong Englishwoman who knows enough to learn the colourful parts of Hindi as part of her training to shoot a documentary in a strange land with she has an almost mystical bond.
