You can always go to US or some other country, earn in dollars, while keeping your eye on that magic 40-50 multiplier, and then come back to Indian and settle down. Countries like Canada has a very high standard of living, taxes that keep on going up and most of time, job that is dependent on economy. ...

Where to settle: Dubai or Canada?
Started by: KODIAL on 25 Sep 2011
... - like yesterday someone told me that they permit students to use calculators in 6th std onwards and also the curriculum standards are lower than CBSE / Indian schools ..... But what I really appreciate is as a notable difference is that teachers explain things to you conceptually and sincerely which develops a different outlook altogether .... It is ironical that when we get some thing free we tend to devalue it - I wish the students and families here are more sincere in utilizing the free education here to the fullest . I rest my case as I would tend to repeat myself ... Happy Holidays Everyone & a Merry Christmas !!!!...

Lived not quite far from those neighborhoods, so I know. Isn't it the same way Canadians and Americans make fun of our Indian pronunciation here in the West? You are doing the same to the fellow Indians that unfortunately reside in the most backward states in India....

Home-made is even better ! Tofu is made with a highly industrialised process, where they first extract milk from soy and then chemically culture it. Soy milk doesn't have any enzymes to support a real, bacterial culture.
On another note...I have recently changed from 2% milk to 1% and have to tell everyone out there that it tastes exa

General: New rules proposed for marriages involving immigrants

... of view of women who are being abused in the marriage.
Agree to some extent, and funny you mention only 'women'. However, the abused party can always go back to India(for instance). If the argument is that some people hide their spouse's(affected) passport then these days its pretty easy to apply for the new one at Indian Consulate. If they still don't go back despite of the abuse then their sole purpose is one and one only, i.e to obtain immigration by crooked means. So, given the above I would say it is the welcome move to cap the immigration fraud. I am all for it....

Jobs: any luck for singers in Canada?

...on to Canada. Since I have been going through yor forums for quite a few days I found that many of the CDs have responded to members queries very well. Thus I just wanted to know if there are any Indian night-clubs pubs or bars or groups that hire singers on regular basis or on contracts or salaried basis? All responses are welcome and appreciated. By the way I am married male of 35 and have 2 kids. I'm sure anyone of you won't pick on my profession. :) Thanks in advance. ...

Study: Sponsoring a relative's education and its impact on home buying
Started by: arcrave on 22 May 2006
...or my brother-in-law for his higher studies in Australia. For this we are required to produce documents which include a sponsorship declaration on "Canadian stamp paper" showing proof of funds (we are PR holders of Canada, brother in law is in India.) He may never actually be using this fund since he is taking a loan from an Indian bank. This is just a formality document required for the visa process. Wondering would this have any impact on our home purchase (planning to buy a home in the next couple of months)? Does this also mean that we have to set aside the fund? Any other do's and don't that I need to be aware of.... Thanks in advance.
