Independent Category: Indians and our love for Gold
Started by: jonav on 15 Oct 2007
...Hi, My husband works for a gold mining company and recently at an official meet, a colleague of his asked me "Why Indians are so fond of gold?" From Oct-Dec gold prices are driven by Indian market because of Diwali and weddings (the largest consumer of gold is India). I couldn't answer him, why?? Financial security? Status, dowry system? What's the use when 80% of his life it’s hoarded in bank lockers. They were spell bounded when I told them a middleclass person must be having at least 1/2 kg of it and people with more money may be 2-3 Kg's or 4-5. The expression on their faces was "Are we guys crazy&qu

I had my own apprehensions regarding the demands of BR and Anna and doubts about the support from so called middle class and educated section of the society, especially youth which has become complacent and revels in parties, Bollywood and IPL. Sadly, Indian Youth icons are moron Bollywood actors rather than Marx and Lenin who were my heroes. (Admittedly I was wrong and it took almost four years before I realized that) but still even today I can assert that their principles were better and forced one to engage in intense debate about the socio economic structure and economic policies an...

   ...
Orginally posted by desi in ottawa I am not surprised. Now business is global, so is education (to some extent). If I am not mistaken, US govt has a pilot project with Indian IT firms to take care of tax returns done electronically. What else is there to be protected? Already medical information and data is sent out to India from some of the uS hospitals for analysis and back office work. Not to forget the radiology work. Sooner or later Canada will catch up with outsourcing to save money. DIO
US still has plenty of work in terms of transcription, back off...

Gora's mistake: ...Iceberg , Nice article. Gora's did not invent the wheel. All this is just plain racism. Unless a law comes to integrate immigrants with goras (similar to indian reservation) these gora's wil never change. I also donot expect this law ever at all in canada and i expect that there will be discrimination against immigrants until the end of the world. On a lighter note, a desi manager who got into a management position in one of the biggest cell phone providers of this province found out that letters were being sent to a person's old address telling h...

And he is a tad out of touch. His reaction is the automatic "emotional rea...

...0 + Billions. Hence the amounts quoted are peanuts and loose change. The last count there are 138 power centers in Tamilnadu. This was revealed by CHO in his recent Thuglak celebrations. Even if you count one billion USD per power center it is nearly USD 150 Billion in Mu KA's family. What happened to Gopalakrishnan Ex-MD of Indian Bank ?. He has become the leader of Yadav Party in Tamilnadu. As usual in India nothing will happen and life goes on.....................................

When I look at their website, it all seems legitimate, with pictures , their vision etc.. You can be one, who can collect money from Canadian Indians and help poor indians in india. While in Canada, I hardly realized the poverty in 3 rd. world countries but once here, I do realize. In the same way, you should also make a website, put picture, say your plans, register with the Indian gvot. for people to give. As far as I know, many (if not most) CD's are kanju's and will never give any money. Hope I am wrong. murali...
