However, I don't think it will come without increasing taxes at provincial/municipal level - I see quite a litter - cigarette butts, coffee cups, used food containers littering on sidewalks in downtown core or on subway stops. Civic sense still needs to be instilled in certain demographics. - Tourism - Nothing except CN tower. Toronto needs to take its cue from Chicago. That DVD is actually single side dual layer format which supports 8GB space. It's also called as "Dual layer DVD-9" Almost all new Hollywood movies are coming in this format. The other format is DVD-5 which supports 4.37GB (regular DVD a.ka. Single Layer DVD-5)

This Sensex hyping is not the isolated endeavour of one newspaper. This is fast becoming a media, even national, obsession. It seems a collective effort is on to define the Indian economy through the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensitive Index. A day’s setback in the index drives the Finance Minister to the TV screen to say things so that it goes up again. The Sensex makes money on paper for all stock market clients. Those who properly time their entry and exit into and from the market even encash it, of course with some luck. But how will the Sensex surge make India a superpower by ...

Formulate your reasons, post them here and then people might be in a better position to suggest alternatives, rather than just asking how to fast track your landing into Canada. Also give more details about you so that members can devise ways to speed up things based on your qualifications (not necessarily academic, but others too - like if you have the financial power, business migration coupled with work permit could perhaps be the fastest way)
Hey Chandresh Thanks again for responding. Well to answer the q...

Life: India / Canada-Culture difference ?
Started by: Manasvi on 17 Feb 2005
...istent post 18 was an anticipated eye opener . Personally , be it India or abroad , built upon the values that I ve been fed with I would dread that to my daughter.
I'm quite sure that people would be similarly object to their 10-15 yr olds being married away nowadays. Yet, this was an integral part of Indian 'culture' not too long ago. My wifes grandmother had her first child at the age of 16/17 . Oh yes(lest there are misconceptions)...this was a traditional arranged marriage :D. Just proves what BL said in his last post about the ever changing aspect of culture. For better or worse (depending on our personal beliefs). ...

What happens to people who got their OCI a year back or before? Should we still surrender our Indian passport and pay the money (sorry if it was covered in Hiren's link. But in my current computer I am unable to open links) PEace by TK
You are right, there are no updates on CGI website yet. About the rediffmail forum, it's that kind of misconception of affordability that still lures people to other countries. At work, one of the manager in a different group is a south indian. He's very good with goras. When it comes to desis / other asians, he's different. A punjabi guy, highly qualified, lost his term job becuase of him. Six more months he would have been permanent with the govt. But this manager made sure that did not happen. I was in no position to help the guy who lost his job. He became my trusted friend and fina...

Health and Wellness: Mattress - to solve my back problem
Started by: Iceberg on 20 Feb 2006
disagree about the Futon: ...emory foam..just your basic FOAM.. at a level 4 or 5 thickness. Since I got this mattress (king size approx $900) my back has done really well..and its VERY firm. You can get one from a basic foam store.. in any size and thickness. put it over your box spring. I love this mattress...it will definately feel like the indian firm mattresses. Futons are very basic..and will not last very long. Though they are cheap.. you want durability. good luck. ...

Our Native Country!: Got a job offer at Ahmedabad worth INR 15 lac, seeking advice to move back?

...ying 1 lac per year as property tax?
Check newer property - not old. My Point is ... if you have house in metro then 15 lac is (barely) enough, but if you have to buy a house in Indian market right now (which is as HOT as ever) then I think 15lac is not enough. India presents its own set of expenses, which is unique to say the least. I know couple of Families who moved back. They both had good job here n moved keeping social n family life in mind. They are happy, with what they wanted to begin with - but that social life has some cost associated with it. Don't over look that.
