One is not supposed to put oil in his/her hair during "Navratri" nor can he/she wash his/her hair during those 9 days. Similarly, you could not use oil in cooking during these days - only "ghee" - Yikes!!!! One could not touch a mother or an infant few days after the baby was b...

...yment option and most organisations say that they are collecting money for the whole region and not India specifically. Natasha
IMO it is not correct to feel only for India. Even if you make payment for India, how can you be sure that Indians are not going to use it for Sri Lanka or Indonesia or any other nation suffering at present. It is a collective rescue / rehabilitation going on for the suffering nation. Whole world is together. Infact India has refused to take aid for the goods they manufacture in India, they have extended help to supply those goods to other nations in need. When our nation has showed generousity why are you calling organization to accept funds for Indi...

Visiting, Traveling and Picnicing: India: The real magic kingdom

...red over the cacophony of the toddler-pummelled bells. More cheek-squeezing, more raisins, more garlands – we all parted fast friends. In every Indian temple and palace where my family has encountered other Western visitors – from young backpackers to elderly folk on guided tours – the sight of our son elicits a mix of surprise and alarm. “You’re very brave,” people say, “to bring him here.” So I explain that we aren’t just visiting, we live in India, and that in fact it’s a wonderful place to travel with a child. Yet the idea is a hard sell: Friends back home sigh wistfully when we talk of camel rides in Rajasthan and houseboats in Kerala. They hitch their babies...

...f us work in Excel but we rarely use the advanced excel in use on a day to day basis here. 3. BE prepared to upgrade on India CA certification - as a CGA or CA. Be prepared for a lot of cultural adjustments and be patient and give yourself time. You need to set up a new house, learn driving cultural niceties etc. Overall I think that Indian CA's stand a very good chance, the sooner you upgrade to Canadian designation the better. Would be glad to answer any other questions you may have. Rajiv...

Our Native Country!: Rice price through the roof

...Ramar. But I would disagree with you on the numbers. As per my knowledge of India in the past 2 years, I would say that 1. 10% are super rich. 2. Around 60% are middle class (Income basis is Rs. 20 lakhs per annum to Rs. 2.4 lakhs per annun) 3. Around 20% are poor (Income from 2.3 lakhs per annum to Rs. 60,000) 4. 10% of Indian are destitute. (Income from Rs. 59,000 to Rs 5000 a annum). As per my view, Govt. should support essential items to only 30 % of the population (like grinders, fan, mixies, subsidized gas, Subsidised train fare, ration, money handouts etc..) but now unfortunately 90% of the population are enjoying it. This is due to the non computerization of India. Hopefully...

Public Services: Marilyn Linton: Animals in Canada Get Better Medical Treatment Than Humans
Started by: vagg on 09 Jun 2014
...If I start praising the Indian healthcare system now, I will get brick bats so let me try to tell on how to improve the Canadian health care system. It is said that Ontario pays 54-64 cents of every tax dollars in healthcare. This is too huge to be spent on one basket. What we should do is classify cases as : OP, Observation required, Moderate, urgent , critical. Urgent and Critical cases should be free and get max. attention and funds. Paper work can be there. For OP, Observation required,, one should be paying a part of OP (unless you are on welfare). Foreign trai...
When and if Canadian government acts against their separatists, Indian government should also act against their own trouble makers. They should not go by ground realities i.e., on those who celebrated the killing of 70 CRPF jawans by extremists. Recently one elite has come out after serving sham of a prison term for the crime of safe keeping terrorist arms. If only, the successive governments in India err in treating these elements with kid gloves. ...
