...Why I am saying this is that a Tamilian will never help a Tamilian due to jealousy. However it looks like Andhra people are a little more united.
When I was Canada from 2002-2011, I was really not able to do any networking, though I tried hard. I made friends with Gora's but somehow, they seemed to get irritated with me due to my indian culture. Our Desi's were only good for spiritual services, pot luck but no one ever tried to give me a lift in my career. One desi's talked to me about some business oppertunities, which I was not interested in.
However, the point is, networking is harder said that done. I am sure that Fido, Dimple, SS, Irock will be able to rotate your resume but they ...

Narayan Murthy and the national anthem.: ...I am amused, disturbed and very angry at the whole episode. I am sure most of those who speak about the \"sanctity of the national anthem\", \"national pride\".........blah, blahh, blah, are nothing short of hypocrites.
Let's face it - very few Indians are proud of their country. We live within self inflicted boundaries of religion, caste, sub-caste, and much more, However the moment we get something to chew about like \"national pride\",we are up in arms (We are all in this). Remember the days when theaters would show the national flag and play the \"Jana gana mana\"?. Within seconds of it's starting t...

Managing Your Money - Reading, Writing and RRSPs - 3 'R's' of essential financial learning for kids: ...You're young, you get a part-time job, and you have 'earned' money in your pocket for the first time. What do you do? Without a doubt, the greatest temptation is to spend, spend, spend! … on designer duds, computer games, fast food and faster cars. And you just might do that - unless you learned good money handling habits while growing up.
That's why it's never too early for parents to begin teaching their kids about the value of money and the simple rules for financial stability through life. Yes, money should be enjoyed but, by taking a responsible approach, your kids will have money on...

...
Both - culture is simply a superstructure for the religion.
There can be a separate debate about this statement.
Culture, I think, is a dynamic entity, that changes from time to time, generation to generation. It is influenced by external factors.
Take, for example, Indian culture, as we say. I think that our beliefs/traditions/rituals may be heavily influenced by external factors, such as say Muslim influnce bought by Mughal/Arab rulers.
Modern Hindi, we speak is a mixture of Hindi and Urdu. We normally do not speak shuddh Hindi as spoken by many BJP leaders.
Or as one of my Pakistani colleauges stated, that qawali was a Hindu i...

Solution# 1
Take time off, or quit your job, and make a beeline to India. Who know you would make the millions you talk about, so tirelessly, on this forum.......... Or maybe, (like the several people I know) come back, unable to adjust to the Indian way of Life.
Solution # 2:
GET REAL ! The other side of the grass is always greener. Why did you come to Canada in the first place? better quality of life, better schooling, whatever. Certainly, no one changes his or her situation unless he or she sees a better situation.
Now you are terribly disappointed. Nothing seems to be what you thought, There is despair, and darkness everywhere. All you see in this place is bad, bad, ba...

Again are you implying that an Indian(or any) accent and good spoken english are mutually exclusive? Not all of us speak 150 words per second even in india. You generalise too much. Id like to know what, according to you, is a north american accent anyway? Is it the novascotian, or the quebecois, or is it that of someone from PEI, Brooklyn, texas, Arkansans.etc? These are all north american areas.
Like bl and chandresh indicated...confidence, clarity and command of the language are the important f...
