I come back to my earlier post on this thread - and I have noticed a few others have made similar comments - one cannot consider themselves a good indian (or canadian or whatever) without finally coming to being a good human being. However - I think its human nature to want to belong. For many people when they say "I am a punjabi christian/sikh/hindu " it tells them they belong to a group. A sense of belonging which may be more so in Immigrants or even those of us born in countries other than those of our ethnic origin . Even 'decent' people can want to bel...

Now in the Coalgate scam worth the country's Budget, the media is silent and focus only on the stoppage of parliament. Among all these the Imelda Marcos of Indian politics has flown out, God only knows for what. ...

Just Landed: IS THE MOVE WORTH IT??

Canada: From dreams to nightmares: ...ind that they don't get the job that their college degrees and experience require, having to instead settle for a dead-end job, even to the extent of being a sweeper with a PhD! Unfortunately, for those who actually manage to land the job they want, are sometimes paid 80% or even 70% of the amount a white Canadian will be paid for the same work. This is increasingly happening in recent years, signalling that Indians and the rest of Asians are deliberately discriminated against. While many say that previously most white Canadians were not really highly educated and that is why immigrants from Asia in the 60s, 70s, and 80s were able to bag jobs that were highly lucrative and satisfying, ...

Life: Mississauga or North York
Started by: anjana on 28 Feb 2004
...nded in Toronto, I stayed at North york just behind the Fairview Mall for first 3 weeks and during this time, looked for apartments mainly around the Square One area which is upmarket compared to Fairview mall. Fairview mall area is well connected both with bus and subway (a new one) and therefore the prices there have gone up in last 2-3 years. It is also just adjacent to a major highway making the commute to rest of GTA faster.....but my personal experience is that that particular highway is jammed from 7am to 10pm. Travel to Downtown from there either by car or by subway should be about 30 minutes. The mall itself is one of the better ones of the GTA and it has got a nice and big libra...

...NOw lets see how many folks rush to cut n paste this :D New Delhi, June 14: Darius Zeller and Ghulam Rasool are two Indians who bought the hype of Canada, sold everything they owned there and jetted to the cold country to get away from the heat and poverty of India. But they regretted it forever. Advertisement After years of trying hard to cruise on the highway to riches, their Canadian experience left them virtual beggars, desperately seeking to escape to their mother country with nothing in their pockets, not even the money they brought with them. Coming from a middle class background in India, they ...

My name bears a different set of four letters: K A U L. Kaul. As those who know Indian names would understand I happened to be born in a family which was called Hindu by others. Hence, we were sure, we would never get a friend like KJ to make a movie on our humiliations, and the contemptuous and forced exile from our homeland. It's not fashionable. It's fashionable to get a Khan as a friend and portray his agony and pains and sufferings when he is asked by a US private to take off his shoes and show his socks. Natural and...

If you are Indian, or of Indian descent, I must preface this post with a clear warning: you are not going to like what I have to say. My criticisms may be very hard to stomach. But consider them as the hard words and loving advice of a good friend. Someone who’s being honest with you and wants nothing from you. These criticisms apply to all of India except Kerala and the places I didn’t visit, except that I have a feeling it applies to all of India, except as I mention...
