... what I wrote. "The great Tatas have always been pioneers. They are the people who started the basic infrastructure industries in India, such as iron and steel, chemicals, textiles and locomotives. They have cared for higher education in India since 1900 and they were responsible for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Science. Fortunately, I study there. But I am surprised how a company such as Telco is discriminating on the basis of gender." I posted the letter and forgot about it. Less than 10 days later, I received a telegram stating that I had to appear for an interview at Telco's Pune facility at the company's expense. I was taken aback by the telegram. ...

News and Events: Downtown Toronto: Its a car, its a bike, its a cycle rickshaw
Started by: VivekRao on 30 Apr 2008
...It is ironic that 'Cycle Rickshaw' is being phased out from Indian metros, while they are being brought into Europe and North America. I would not be surprised that David Miller, on advice on Howard Moscoe, would ban plying of motorized taxis (i.e. auto taxis) in downtown TO. I was wondering if being a rickshaw puller would be the new vocation for the new immigrants? Below is a news items and a job posting [though one can read the text within the post, but the links would enable you to view pictures]. The Indian tamils are reluctant to wear the vibhuti, bindi or even the tikka to school or work place. I know in many schools in Tamil Nadu you are forbidden to wear this vibuti, Bindi or tikka. There have been cases where the school authorities have forcibly erased/removed them from students. It'll be really interesting to see in future, when Bill Gates or Dell will be called upto Delhi and told to hire based on the reservation guidelines. They...

...Critical Look at Car Buying: Lease vs Purchase Fiance The best way to buy a car is to pay cash for it. The discounts are huge. Alternatively take that cash out of HELoC and pay simple prime on it if the car manufacturers interest rate is higher then prime. For most people who are not blessed with this knowledge or who do not qualify for a Cash-HELoC ,are left with dealership purchase options. Here is my take on different options offered by dealersh...

As part of the interview process, we ask the applicants to fill out a technical skills self-rating template. This provides us an idea on the applicants level of skills. Anyways, three of the seven applicants, I interviewed, were from Indian origin. Either they are recently immigrated from India or looking for a change of job(second one since landing). Usually, I start with scanning the areas, where the applicant says, he/she provided most complicated solutions. Interestingly enough, most of these complicated areas rated by our desi friends are least complicated. You can imagine the outcome o...

Being born in Canada or America does not mean that one will speak good English either(unlike what you seem to think/suggest in your post). Infact, I've known many Canadian/Americans (born in NA) whose english does not come close to that of some Indians I know. Good english, is a learning process and I learn each time I write/speak/read. The fact that I dont like is, when my kids spoil their grammar ( which I could teach them with my limited knowledge) because of the influences of their caregivers. Its my RIGHT to expect more from those that take care of my kids. I do not expect you, or anyone else on...
