I am not sure how many CD went through this Health service Exp.
But wanted to have discussion if possible

As usual, when in India we use Health service, we pay & don't bother abt other things But yes during emergency Or when u really need, u have lot of options. Most of the cities have many doctors even during late night
I know we r paying but its worth. At least we r getting treatment when needed.

Then I spent few years in Middle East & found Health system not so good compare to India. I know many companies pay & we really don't have to pay from pocket, so we r always happy. But again when emergency comes, its really difficult to get proper & fast service

PLEASE DON'T TAKE EMERGENCY WORD AS WHEN U R AT DEATH
Here emergency I am using as regular word when we really need service like REALLY SICK etc...

Then come to this well know country called CANADA. Everyone was saying its FREE i.e Health Card etc...

Spent some time in Toronto. Found Health card really FREE.....GOOD
But when we really need service, either we have to visit WALK IN CLINIC or wait for ur doctor's appointment
Also Walk In Clinic are very few & some times its really difficult to get attended when we need

I had a very bad exp in TRILLIUM HOSPITAL in Mississauga. My children's was not well & I wanted to show doctors. Unfortunately it happen in late evening. So tried Walk in Clinic, no one was available
So finally took them To TRILLIUM. We reach there at 1 am. Waited till 5.00 am. No attention to us. Told us wait some more time ( of Course completed all formalities liek Health card# etc)

Finally we left without showing doctor. Went to family doctor at around 11 am.

But is this called HEALTH SERVICE in developed country like CANADA.
Just because its FREE

Then move to Calgary. Its BAAP of Toronto
U will hardly find any Walk in Clinic. Enen if it is there, they will not attend
I heard abt one Walk in Clinic in downtown. But average wait time I heard is 5 to 6 hours
Also please remember, in Alberta, health Cards are not FREE. It cost $88 fro family

Any one has good or bad exp in Canada aby Health service

Yes I do agree that Health system is not so good in Canada( Considering its an Developed Country)

But I am not sure reason. May be because Health Cards are FREE.
But again it not FREE in all Provinces

Also I had many bad exp with Canadian Health system

Welcome to Canada pal. the health care system in this country is only good for those people who cannot affort to pay for it themselves. It is definitely not good for those who are willing to pay to take care of their own health coz you will not receive the treatment in time.

Atleast, it is ok for us desis coz in worst case scenario we have an option to fly back to India and get the best treatment available . But I really sympathise with the native canadians .. where would they go. USA is way too expensive to get treatment without insurance.

Cheers

For those interested i knowing the latest trends in healthcare, check out this report by Leigh Turner of McGill Univ.

http://www.irpp.org/po/archive/sep07/turner.pdf

The highlight is that Canadians are now able to shop around for elective health procedures. They are choosing to "outsource" some procedures to countries like India, China, Thailand etc.
