Has anyone Shipped Furniture from Dubai ? Does it survive the cold Winters ?
any feedback is welcome ....

thanks for the reply Manjeet..Where did you pick up furniture from ? I am looking at Ikea..for now..I suppose it is the same wood worldwide...

If you are buying new, then I would recommend buying here in canada as due to reccession you will get much better deals.

I think its better to bring old stuff (too good to throw away) than buying new to bring over to canada.

IMO, unless you have solid wood furniture (e.g rosewood furniture), it is not worth shipping furniture like the one generally sold at Home Centre, Pan emirates etc.

Pls be aware that the furniture MAY get damaged while being transported.

Another thing to be aware of is that rooms in apartments and houses can be much smaller than those in Dubai. Thus your furniture may not fit in Toronto.

We found it better to ship the good stuff to India and give the rest away.

This is one thing you do not need as all Apts/ Houses have a closet built in/ walk in.
