ITboy,
as you know CCNA in india is CCNA anywhere in the world and so are rest of your certifications. so that's good right. i am CCNA, CCNP, CCIE (written) - R&S path & PMP so i assume that you understand that I understand your background
so really there are no courses that you need to at CCNA/MS exchange levels. of course next step is CCNP etc. the courses you will get here sysadmin/network admin at private schools which you have already done.
on whether i am going thru an ordeal, well i am not. i am earning 6 figure salary in canadian dollars and got employed within 4 months but many immigrants out here r going thru a lot inspite of IT certifications. the only point i am trying to tell you my friend is, r u prepared for worst case scenario which could take many months.
i also threw light on your wife's cud-be future based on what my wife is going thru or for that matter any non-canadian teacher.
look at my points from personal experience, take it or throw it.
i really hope you don't get to see the worst case but be prepared.let me know if you need more info.
all the best !
NewCD,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Well you rightly said there are challenges and difficulties being faced by individual. I am really happy that you are earning 6 figures and I pray to God that you earn more in future. I have no mean to hurt your feelings but your earlier post was giving negative vibes.
I love India and remain Indian forever, it’s all destinies and I have already mentioned that circumstance changes life approach.
I do agree the sys/network admin and software jobs are offshored to India or other developing countries. In spite of this you got a job in four months and with 6 figures so there are chances. This seems to be positive.
Meanwhile I have researched from my end there are certificate/diploma courses (System/Network Analyst) available in different colleges and are partime/online with 6-12 months of duration at a very genuine price. I know certification do count so does the Canadian qualification.
Thanks once again for your post and suggestions.
Regards
ITboy
Dear fellow canadian desi brothers,
I have reached canada on May 3. Got a permanent job in my field within a two weeks time.
Just a quick reference to my friends those are in IT field and also coming to canada for first or second time.
1) Plan, Plan and Plan....Always have a plan what are things needs to be done if one plan fails opt for other one.
2) Get certifications like Microsoft, Cisco, Vmware or citirx. These are hot in market and if you have good skills in linux that is going to be a better option.
3) Start applying and give any canadian address. If possible give phone number of your friend or releative. If you get calls from HR, tell your releative or friend that you are not available this time or you are away on vacation will be back soon. The HR's usually send feedback via email and they have their phone numbers so this is good chance to call them back and fix up time.
4) Keep yourself updated with the technology.
5) Believe in yourself, your family and ofcourse God.......
Thanks to all my desi friends who provided me full insight, which paved me good results.
