Lucknow, Feb 11 (IANS) Two people, including a convict, were Monday afternoon killed in firing by five car-borne assailants in Uttar Pradesh, police said. Nandu, accused in several cases, was killed in Bijnor, 440 km from here, when he was being taken to Noida court for appearance in police custody. As the policemen were escorting him to a bus, five men in a car started firing at the convict. Nandu was killed on the spot while two others - a bus conductor and a rickshaw puller - were injured. Police also opened fire in retaliation and one of the assailants was killed. Superintendent of Police Sunil Chandra Bajpayi told IANS that the assailants' vehicle bore the registration number of a motorcycle. A 9 mm imported pistol and a number of cartridges were recovered from the dead criminal, he said.
