TORONTO, Ontario (February 14, 2013) – The new three-row, six/seven-passenger Santa Fe XL made its Toronto debut today at the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show, joining the 215 millimetre shorter two-row, five-passenger Santa Fe which has been on sale since August last year. The all-new Santa Fe XL builds on Hyundai’s reputation for value by combining bold design with a high-output Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) V6 engine and a host of features providing exceptional functionality, versatility, and comfort. Pricing will be publicly available by Friday.
NO LINES STANDING STILL
Hyundai designers crafted the two-row Santa Fe and three-row Santa Fe XL together, with the signature differentiating element being the side window shape. The larger Santa Fe XL features a shape that highlights the increased passenger and cargo room behind the third-row seat. Santa Fe XL also features its own bodyside character lines from the B-pillar back, a unique grille design, new alloy wheels, dual chrome asymmetrical exhaust outlets integrated into the rear bumper, and a flush-mounted tow hitch design.
LUXURY CAR FEATURES, THREE-ROW PRACTICALITY
With an exhaustive list of standard and optional premium features, the 2013 Santa Fe line-up represents an unprecedented value relative to competitors. Standard equipment includes heated front seats, power windows, driver’s seat power lumbar support, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth®, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, and much more. Also available are luxury features completely unexpected in the segment and unavailable in competing crossovers. Items such as a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, leather seating surfaces, and a panoramic sunroof, among others, ensure that all occupants ride in comfort.
HIGHLY ADVANCED POWERTRAIN
The Santa Fe XL is powered an advanced 3.3-litre GDI V6 engine. Producing 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque, the XL’s new V6 engine provides an ideal combination of power, refinement, and fuel efficiency. All Santa Fe models come equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual mode that can adapt quickly to deliver smooth shifts and fuel efficient operation throughout the rev range. While front-wheel drive is standard equipment, an advanced active All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system is available.
ADVANCED STANDARD SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES
Santa Fe models are equipped with an exceptional level of standard safety features for the segment. A Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system incorporates a Rollover Protection System and optimally manages the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and the Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle in slippery conditions or during fast cornering. All Santa Fe models feature seven airbags including driver’s knee, dual front-impact, seat-mounted front-side impact, and side curtains. A four-wheel disc braking package provides confident stopping ability. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) features Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
