Canada’s future business leaders will get an up-close look at one of the world’s fastest growing markets through the eyes of Canadian and Indian executives.
The first ever Canadian-South Asian Business Conference, a one-day event hosted by York University’s Schulich School of Business, will take place on Saturday, November 5th at the School’s $100-million, state-of-the-art facility. The conference is designed to give participants insights into the opportunities and challenges that exist in India and other regions in South Asia.
Keynote speakers at the conference include Kuldip Rai Sahi, Chairman and CEO of Morguard Corporation, and Surya Kant, President of North American operations for Tata Consultancy Services.
Panel discussions over the course of the day will focus on a number of industry sectors, including Financial Services, Information Technology (IT) and IT Consulting, Supply Chain and Retail. Guest panelists include: Akhilesh Tripathi, Regional Director, Tata Consultancy Services; Sanjay Tugnait, Managing Partner, Accenture; John Griese, Director of Supply Chain, Frito Lay Canada; Khalid Awan, CEO and Chairman, TCS Express; and Ajai Sahore, Vice President (Credit), State Bank of India (Canada).
The conference, which has been organized by Schulich MBA students and faculty, begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes with a networking session at 5:30 p.m. Syed Kazmi, President of the Schulich South Asian Business Club, says: “The conference is designed to create a broader and deeper understanding of Canada-South Asia business relations.”
“Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is proud to co-host this first ever student run conference on Canada-South Asia business relations at the Schulich School of Business,” said Mukesh Gupta, director of strategic relations at TCS Canada and a member of the Canada-South Asian Business Conference Advisory Board. “One of TCS’ core values is to give back to the communities in which we work and this relationship with the Schulich School of Business is a perfect example of our social responsibility towards Canada and its academic institutions. The students who have organized this conference are bridging the gap between Canada and South Asia by finding common ground among the global business community.”
