Welcome to Montreal Murugan Temple. This Temple is the first Saivaite Temple in the Province of Quebec in Canada. While it is open to all those devotees who believe in SAIVAISM to fulfill their religious rituals and functions, all other faiths are cordially invited to this temple.
Montreal Murugan Temple was
established in 1983 and registered as a Non-Profit organization with Revenue
Canada since then. Temple land was bought in 1992 and the present Temple was
built and consecrated on Nov 1995. To add the true authentic flavour
reflecting our heritage and sculpture works, the present Phase II at an
estimated cost 1.3 Million dollars started on June 2002. We have
completed the Temple building in structural aspects and more cultural
works are being done by authentic sculptors from India. These sculptors
comprises a team of 12 artisans under the Guidance of a leading scholar of
the Hindu/Saivaite architecture from Tamilnadu/India Mr. Dakshinamoorthy Sthapathy B.Sc. They were engaged for over 2 years. The more elaborate consecration
ceremony is now scheduled to take place on Monday - 5th September 2005.
