The head of the Vedanta Society of Toronto is Swami Pramathananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Order.
In 1995, the Society acquired a new home (shown below), centrally situated at 120 Emmett Avenue in Metropolitan Toronto.
The activities of the Society include: weekly lectures and scripture classes; worship celebrations; an adult study circle and discussion group; children's classes; talks by guest speakers from other faith groups; a book store and library; and devotional singing, as well as special projects such as an annual summer retreat, seminars, and music and dance programmes.
Recently, the Society entered an innovative arrangement whereby members can render volunteer service at West Park Hospital, which is situated adjacent to the new building. The purpose of this project is to put into action Swami Vivekananda's ideal of serving God in man. The Society also promotes harmony among different religions and philosophical thoughts of the world through dialogues with other religious organizations.
Those interested in learning more about Vedanta, its potential for personal spiritual growth, and the activities of the Society are invited to visit the Centre, view the collection of reference and learning materials, and arrange a meeting with Swami Pramathananda. Phone: (416) 240-7262.
